Norman Hann was born in Sudbury, Ontario and grew up on the lakes and rivers of the Canadian Shield. After a successful university basketball career Norman became a high school teacher of Physical Education and science. Summers off from teaching allowed him to explore Lake Superior and the Canadian Rockies around Banff, Alberta and Norman quickly realized his passion to live in the west and to work in the incredible natural environments found in British Columbia. This led him to a diploma program in Adventure Tourism in Vancouver, where he was certified as an outdoor guide. Norman was then hired in 2000 at King Pacific Lodge, a premier fly in floating lodge on the north coast of British Columbia where he is currently contracts training guides, leading adventures, and working closely with the first nations of the area. Eight summers of leading sea kayaking, hiking, bearviewing, whale watching and cultural tours in the land of the Spirit Bear continues to motivate him. "This is a magical area that once in the blood never leaves."

Building on his experience on the north coast and committing to his dreams and passions lead him to start Tantalus Adventures. This allows him to continue to lead in the outdoors and to introduce guests and friends to the incredible world of adventure and natural history in British Columbia. The Tantalus Range in his backyard of Squamish, B.C. are mountains of stunning beauty which creates feelings of inspiration and awe.

Norm spends a lot of his time in his adopted First Nations community of Hartley Bay where he coaches basketball and leads the youth in outdoor adventures and student mentor programs. Norm also works at Quest University Canada in Squamish where he is the women's university basketball coach and leader of outdoor courses.

Norm looks forward to connecting his excitement and passion with the outdoors to the goals, aspirations and motivations of those he is privileged enough to lead.
